For example, suppose ethanol heated up the water quickly because its flame was touching the calorimeter and so less alcohol would be burnt as it heated up the water quickly, but if methanol wick was small and less flame came out of it and cant really touch the calorimeter then this is a slower time and more alcohol will be burnt. As a result the calculations done for these experiments would be inaccurate based on these variables.
