How can u tell how old a dog is by their gums and teeth?

A vet can give you an estimate of the age based on how much wear there has been to the teeth and how much gums have receded. It sounds though like your dog needs a dental cleaning with the brown tartar on her teeth. Dental decay can cause real problems as dogs age, so be sure and get it checked out.
