If tanking doesnt exist? why do teams play for the wooden spoon?

Of course it exists but I think people today just accuse every team, that wins the wooden spoon, of tanking. Seriously some teams don't tank they're just crap. But to those teams who do tank good luck to them, the first draft pick isn't always what they're cracked up to be. Did you know Adam Cooney was the only number 1 draft pick to win a Brownlow. What about St. Kilda they have won so many wooden spoons but haven't won a flag just yet. The only way to solve the issue of tanking is for the AFL to change the current system 'cause even if Demetriou realises that tanking does exist there is no way to police it now as teams can agrue they are simply crap. I think first step is to get rid of the priority pick....why are we awarding failure anyway. But I bet whatever they do someone stupid journo will still accuse a team of tanking. But it's not just the AFL's fault it's some of the clubs. Why would you want to do that to your loyal fans no matter how much it will help you win future premierships. Winning 5 or so wooden spoons doesn't justify 1 Premiership.
